The Soft Funded Academic Research Staff (SFARS) Steering Committee is a sub-committee of the AU Exco that promotes the well-being of SFARS staff at UCT through ensuring:

  • Job equity‚ job security & funding models
  • Recognition of the SFARS contribution to teaching‚ research
  • Administration at the university and formal integration of SFARS into University structures.

The Steering Committee of SFARS at UCT seeks to represent, address and collectively motivate for the unique needs of UCT SFARS in order to promote equity of employment conditions, equity of career paths, security of positions and the integration into university structures at UCT.

The current members on the SFARS Steering Committee are: Elona Toska, Neil Hassan, Gasnat Shaboodien and Emma Kalk.
